The online version of The Lake Front, the student newspaper for Our Lady of the Lake University, has arrived.
“The staff of the paper is extremely excited to see the site launch,” said faculty adviser Kay O’Donnell.
Like the student newspaper, the site was designed by students and all content will come from them as well.
The site has been in the works for several semesters and, with the help of staff and administrators, is finally available to the public.
“The students have worked so hard on this project,” O’Donnell said. “I am very proud of all of their efforts.
“One of our main goals is to become an integral part of the information cycle for students, staff and faculty, and, of course, for anyone else in cyberspace,” she said.
Unlike the print version of The Lake Front, which comes out monthly, the online site will be updated at least once a week, generally every Friday.
In addition to providing timely news and information, the staff has a secondary goal of becoming a “check-in” point for those looking for entertainment options for the weekend.
“Because the site will be updated every Friday, this gives us an excellent opportunity to provide extremely up-to-date information about dining options, movies, music, local events and more,” O’Donnell said.
She also said that the site is still a work-in-progress, with new features to be added periodically. “We’re starting with two to three blogs, but hope to add more. Also, we want to add a level of interactivity with the community so we’ll be offering feedback options very soon.
“We are eager to hear what the Lake community and others think about our site and welcome any suggestions for improvement,” she added.
