Radio
talk show host Erica Bain (Jodie Foster)
and her fiancé David (Naveen
Andrews) are attacked by a gang while
walking their dog. In recovery, she
finds out her fiancé has died
and the criminals got away.
Erica, now a recluse armed with a
gun, forces herself to go back out
into the world. She finds herself
in situations where she’s forced
to use the gun, and she becomes a
vigilante, cleaning up the streets
of New York.
Detective Mercer (Terrence Howard)
of the New York City Police Department
begins to look for the vigilante killer.
Erica and Mercer cross paths at a
crime scene and quickly become friends.
Detective Mercer finds one of the
gang members and tells Erica. She
doesn’t identify the gang member
so she can find them all and get her
revenge.
This film is similar to Charles Bronson’s
“Death Wish.” The idea
isn’t new, but this film is
more than just action. Jodie Foster’s
acting is amazing as she portrays
someone who’s been hurt badly
and tries to deal with the person
she has become.
Terrence Howard is a talented supporting
actor, playing off of Foster. The
camera work is impressive, showing
how big and scary New York can be.
Overall, the film is terrific. If
you missed it in theaters, you need
to rent it.
