Feeling like a fool in ‘Fool’s Gold’

Treasure hunters Benjamin Finnegan (Matthew McConaughey) and his ex-wife, Tess Finnegan (Kate Hudson), are looking for the Queen’s Dowry treasure. The problem is that Bigg Bunny (Kevin Hart), an ex-rapper, is after Benjamin because he needs to pay back the money that Bigg gave him to search for the treasure.

Benjamin tries to convince Bigg that he knows where the treasure is, and he needs more money for supplies. Now Bigg knows where the treasure is and decides to kill Benjamin. Bigg's men mess up, and he comically gets away.

Meanwhile, Tess has been working for millionaire Nigel Honeycutt (Donald Sutherland). They convince him and his daughter to provide the equipment for the hunt. It becomes a race to find the treasure first now that Bigg has an idea of where the treasure is.

This had to be one of the worst films of the year. It has three great actors, but the story is way too predictable. It was all formula.

I think Warner Bros. Productions was just trying to cash in on McConaughey and Hudson's previous success in “How to Lose a Guy in 10 Days.”

There are some funny parts, and it gets interesting toward the end when the action adventure part picks up. There’s no recommendation to anyone to see this film, but, if you must watch, it’s tolerable.
