Tonight
was awesome! (By the way it’s
Thursday, Feb. 28.) The Spurs defeated
the Mavs...GO SPURS GO...and were
victorious thanks to Bruce Bowen’s
killer defense which makes the victory
ever more sweet. But more than that,
was something I heard during the game
that made me totally elated!
Brent Barry appears to be returning
to San Antonio!
According to a report given during
the game by TNT announcer Craig Sager,
Steve Kerr, Phoenix Suns’ president
of basketball operations and general
manager, told the Arizona Republic
Barry had declined the Suns offer
and instead chose to return to San
Antonio.
Needless to say, I was ecstatic to
hear this. I immediately, well not
immediately, I did wait to make sure
the Spurs took care of business, but
immediately after the game I checked
espn.com and sure enough they, too,
were reporting Barry had opted to
come back to San Antonio.
I had originally intended this blog
to be about why Barry was a huge asset
to the Spurs and the San Antonio community.
I was going to talk about all the
good he and his wife have done for
the city and what a huge hole he was
leaving to be filled.
Now it seems I don’t have to.
Barry obviously knows that he belongs
here in San Antonio and I cannot wait
for the 30 days to pass before he
can be back in that silver and black!
Kudos to you, Mr. Barry, for not letting
hurt feelings or pride get in the
way of coming back home! Welcome back
Brent Barry! The silver and black
is where you belong!
