The
OLLU Student Employment Office will
celebrate National Student Employment
Week by offering some fun activities
and prizes. The celebrations will
run from April 22-24.
This year’s celebration will
have a retro ’60s theme. The
week will be filled with several different
activities, such as trivia questions
thru e-currents and a hula-hoop competition
for which all student employees can
participate to win prizes. The prizes
range from gift cards to tickets to
Splashtown, depending on the contest.
The main purpose of this celebration
is to “recognize and show appreciation
to our student employees,” said
DeAnna Campbell, Student Employment
manager.
She emphasizes the importance of having
students work on campus since it would
cost the university much more to hire
people from outside. Student employment
also gives students an opportunity
to earn money by working on campus.
Sarah Aguera, an employee at the Student
Employment Office, who participated
in last year’s celebration,
said “this (event) is a nice
way to relax and feel appreciated
for the work you do.”
Approximately 325 students are expected
to participate throughout the week.
The event will be held in the mall
area. Food will be provided for these
events.
Also the Student Employment Office
is asking for students to come in
and get their pictures taken in the
“funky van.” These pictures
will be posted around campus before
the event and copies will be given
out to those who want them.
For more information on participation
or donations, please contact Campbell
at Ext. 2700.
