‘Anchorman: The Legend of Ron Burgundy’ is classic Will Ferrell

‘Anchorman’ is a 2004 comedy set in 1970s San Diego about Ron Burgundy (Will Ferrell), the top-rated anchorman in the city. His life turns upside down when the network decides to hire Veronica Corningstone (Christina Applegate). Ron and Veronica start dating until one day Ron’s dog is kicked off a bridge after an argument with a biker. Ron is unable to make it to work on time and Veronica steps in for him. After her successful broadcast, she becomes Ron’s co-anchor. Ron hates the idea and breaks up with Veronica.

A competition begins when they try to get each other fired. Ron eventually loses and becomes unemployed. The question is will Ron ever get his job back? And can he deal with having a female co-anchor?

After seeing the mildly funny “Semi-Pro,” I had to go back and watch “Anchorman,” a hilarious film that I have watched a number of times. The cast and the writing are very funny, and some of the jokes and lines are ad-libbed by the cast.

You can tell everyone involved in the film had a lot of fun making it. It’s also surprising to see the then-unknown Steve Carell as weatherman Brick Tamland.

This movie has a number of cameos as well. Celebrities who pop in include Vince Vaughn, Luke Wilson, Ben Stiller and many more.

This is a big recommendation for those who’ve never seen a Will Ferrell movie. You have to see it.
