Bubblehead serves up the bubble tea

Bubblehead, at 1035 S. Presa St., offers a wide selection of Asian beverages better known to locals as bubble tea. These delicious and refreshing drinks are a perfect escape from the humid springtime weather.

What makes this tea so unique are the sinkers, little pearls of flavor that add an extra dimension to your drink. On our trip we had the two most popular teas, Sara’s Mango Mix and the Urban Jungle. Both came with the classic tapioca pearls. At first the drinks seem intimidating; you can’t help but wonder how the pearls will taste. But after the first sip all those trepidations are gone. The tapioca pearls are perfectly described on the menu as “soft and chewy goodness.”

The Mango Mix is a thick smoothie drink while the Urban Jungle is a more traditional tea. The Urban Jungle mixes berries, oranges and green tea while the Mango Mix has hints of coconut milk.

Bubblehead offers more than 70 drink options including espressos and coffee. Not in the mood for the tapioca or glass pearls? Just tell the server, and they will take them out of the order. If you have a sweet tooth, choose a sweet smoothie and add a scoop of vanilla ice cream for a dollar extra.

The interior of Bubblehead is open, relaxing and very chic. There are numerous places to lounge both inside and outside. The staff is friendly and courteous, especially for first-time Bubbleheads.

The price range is on the cheap side, and the most expensive drink will run about $5. Most are priced in the $3.50 range.

With such a wide variety of beverages and free Wi-Fi, Bubblehead is the perfect summer spot.

Bubblehead is open Monday through Thursday from 6 a.m. to 8 p.m., Friday from 6 a.m. to 10 p.m., and Sunday from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Learn more about bubble tea at bubbleheadtea.com, or call the establishment, (210) 224-0559.
