“Juno” is a romantic comedy about Juno MacGuff (Ellen Page), a high school teen whose life turns upside down when she finds out she’s pregnant.
It all happened when she gets bored one day and decides to have unprotected sex with her friend/boyfriend Paulie Bleeker (Michael Cera). She tells Paulie about the pregnancy and decides to go about it on her own.
She’s then faced with three options: keep the child, have an abortion, or give it up for adoption. She eventually gives it up for adoption to Vanessa (Jennifer Garner) and Mark (Jason Bateman) Loring, a young, perfect married couple. Juno quickly befriends them, and she soon finds out they’re not as perfect as they seem.
I really enjoyed this film, and I was surprised that it’s a very mature film. The trailer gives the idea that it’s a teen flick, and it’s so much more than that. The writing is very funny and creative. Everything in this film was amazing, from the acting, to the directing, and the writing. Even the soundtrack was great.
I call “Juno” the little film that could because the film’s budget was about $7.5 million and was shot in 31 days. It made more than $100 million, the most by any of the 2008 best picture nominees at the Oscars.
The standard edition DVD is awesome; it’s packed with tons of special features, which is everything a “Juno” fan would want. I recommend watching the outtakes and deleted scenes because they’re very funny. “Juno” is a good movie for anyone who needs a good laugh.
