The successful release of Rob Zombie’s “Halloween” is the pay-off to the hard work done in his 2005 action film, “The Devil’s Rejects.” “Rejects’” is a sequel to Zombie’s debut movie, “House of 1,000 Corpses.”
The maturity of Zombie as a filmmaker is well on display here. His camerawork is much more nuanced, and the campy performances of the murderous Firefly family in the first film are now fully drawn out for the audience. Each character is given a lot more development and that allows for a tighter control on the film.
For people who enjoyed “Halloween,” they should take a look at “The Devil’s Rejects.” The study of an evolving filmmaker is what is going on behind this gem of an action film. It is an action- and profanity-laced ride that leaves you amazed with its raw potential
