The Drafthouse is still the best theater in town

I’ve said it before, and I’ll say it again: The Alamo Drafthouse is the best theater in San Antonio.  I’m going to a Thursday night show of “Bram Stoker’s Dracula.” I love that the Drafthouse has awesome food, and they do the little things, like show random movies.  They have great meal specials every day that give you more for your money.  I also have mentioned that I love going weekly to the Drafthouse with my brother; we both love it there.

The Drafthouse is how I would want to run a theater.  They show Dallas Cowboy’ games, and some of the San Antonio Spurs’ games.  They also show Texas Longhorns’ games with free admission.  The screen is level with the floor, and the seating, complemented by tables to eat on, gives a near perfect view of the projector screen.

The only downside to the theater is it does not do IMAX productions.  However, most films are rarely converted into that format, and I don’t think it’s really necessary.  I think it’s funny that the last time I wrote about how great the Drafthouse was I had two minor problems with the staff.  However, they were both misunderstandings that were handled very professionally by the managers and wait staff.  I remember every time I go to the Drafthouse how much I love being there.

It’s a great place for dinner and a movie, so you can skip to dessert after the movie is over.  Even the Drafthouse pre-show entertainment is great.  Usually before the movie begins, they show videos of things related to the movie itself.  It can be a great primer, in the case of “Transformers,” or it can be educational, such as the explanation of oil’s history prior to the Middle Eastern thriller, “The Kingdom.”Any way you cut it, the Alamo Drafthouse is the best place to enjoy the newest releases, and I highly recommend it to any moviegoer out there.
