Liberty Bar serious about its food

A hanging sign reads “Serious Food” just outside of the Liberty Bar on 328 E. Josephine St. The slanted building is as interesting as the menu which features choices such as lamb burgers and zucchini sandwiches.

Step inside the Liberty Bar and feel right at home in the aged building that originally served as a residence and grocery store in the 1890s. The original bar is still intact even after the 1921 flood that caused the building’s famous tilt.

The menu has a variety of options ranging from steaks to veggie meals. The menu is chosen specially each day so every option is different.

The complimentary bread and butter are delicious and make for a great starter. The pork chops are a delight and taste straight from a country kitchen. They were filling and came with garlic sauce as a side for dipping.

The best thing about Liberty Bar definitely has to be the environment, especially at night since the bright red lights in the window add to an already unique atmosphere. The only issue with the restaurant is that it is not for everyone. Try Liberty Bar as an adventure since the menu items are not all classic home-cooked favorites. The prices range from $7 entrees to $20 steaks and salmon.
