No reason to turn around on ‘Wrong Turn 2: Dead End’

Don’t call it a sequel; it’s better than the first film. A group of contestants go out into the wilderness filming the pilot for a new reality TV show, “The Ultimate Survivalist: The Apocalypse.”

This fake show is “Survivor” meets “Night of the Comet,” hosted by Dale Murphy (Henry Rollins), a retired military veteran. Teamed with a partner, the contestants must pretend it is the day after the Apocalypse. They undertake various challenges in the woods and try to survive. They soon find it’s not just money they are competing for.

Even though this is a straight-to-DVD film, it is surprisingly good. This B movie is a diamond in the rough. The acting is pretty good, not too cheesy, but don’t expect the greatest special effects.

It couldn’t be a horror film without its share of gore and action. A major plus is the film goes by very quickly with very few slow parts. Even though Halloween has passed, this is still a worthy film to sit back and watch.
