The Saints basketball team is ready to return to adding wins to its record when it hosts Northwest Vista College on Dec. 5.
The team dropped its last game Nov. 28 when they traveled to St. Philip’s College to face the Tigers. The Saints spent the majority of the game chipping away at a Tigers’ lead but in the end came up short, losing 88-74.
Head coach Frank Hernandez attributes the loss to a lack of defense and too many mistakes near the end of the game.
“It was a tale of two halves,” Hernandez said. “The first half we played no defense, we were not active. During the second half, we adjusted our defensive strategy, and that got us back into the game. But we made too many mistakes towards the end.”
The NVC game will be the team’s last game before the semester break. The Saints will begin competing again Jan. 23 when they host St. Philip’s College.
