Dinner on a Dime
Go for the view at Eyes Over Texas
Contributing Writer

One of the most attractive and romantic places to dine in San Antonio is the Tower of Americas, which hosts the prestigious restaurant, Eyes Over Texas.

In its dreamlike setting, painted with warm colors of the sunset, you can experience a 360-degree view of San Antonio, east to west and north to south.

While waiting for the sun to set and dark blue to color the sky, you can sample selections from the extensive wine list. Also, there are several appetizer selections, both hot and cold, ranging in price from $6-$15. In the mood for a cold appetizer? Try the Shellfish Martini or Seared Peppered Ahi Tuna. If something hot is more your style, the restaurant offers Shrimp and Crab Fondue or Fried Calamari.

After enjoying the view of the city, which appears as a treasure chest sparkling in front of your eyes, let the soft beats of jazz help you make your entrée decision. For such a sophisticated restaurant, there are not many choices. They offer mainly seafood (Thai-Style Fried Flounder and Gulf Fried Shrimp), three steak options (Filet Mignon, N.Y. Strip and Ribeye), fowl selections such as Slow Roasted Half Chicken, pasta, and salads. The entrees range from $26-$40 per plate.

I have to say that I was not impressed with the food. However, if romance and a nice view are what you have in mind, you won’t be disappointed.
