Sports Blog: Suns avoid sweep but don't save face

And, yes, I already know what you are going to say...Seriously, she is going to talk up the Spurs after Sunday’s game?...

And, maybe in some sense I am.

Before I go there I will give kudos to the Suns. Congrats on not being completely embarrassed and getting swept.

Sports blog: In the valley of the Suns what goes around comes around

Blogger’s Note: This blog was written Friday night after Game 3 and before Sunday’s Game 4 and the Spurs’ rather large loss to the Suns. For my reaction to that, read my other blog for the week.

So from the beginning of this series I anticipated drama. A rivalry has formed between the Suns and the Spurs and there is no rivalry game that does not have its fair share of drama.

I figured Robert Horry would take center stage in this series even without playing many minutes at all. I knew that everyone would have to go back to last year’s playoff series and the body check Horry delivered to Steve Nash.

Sports Blog: Come back to Texas, Brent Barry

Sports/Entertainment Editor

Tonight was awesome! (By the way it’s Thursday, Feb. 28.) The Spurs defeated the Mavs...GO SPURS GO...and were victorious thanks to Bruce Bowen’s killer defense which makes the victory ever more sweet. But more than that, was something I heard during the game that made me totally elated!

Brent Barry appears to be returning to San Antonio!

According to a report given during the game by TNT announcer Craig Sager, Steve Kerr, Phoenix Suns’ president of basketball operations and general manager, told the Arizona Republic Barry had declined the Suns offer and instead chose to return to San Antonio.

Rough week for Club Basketball team

Contributing Writer

The week began for the Saints on Monday, Feb. 18 as the team hosted Palo Alto College. In a game played without Coach Frank Hernandez, who was at home sick with the flu, the Saints lost, 89-66.

Sophomore forward Derek Ezell attributed the loss to a number of things.

“We had some good plays in the first half, but the second half they came out and played us hard. Without coach and a couple key players, they had our number even with our bench players playing well, but it was nice to see guys that usually don’t get action get into the game and play,” said Ezell.
